WHERE TO STAY IN COLONSAY
There is a wide range of accommodation in Colonsay, including an hotel and guesthouses, but for many people the affordability, comfort and independence of a self-catering property makes it the ideal choice. This is particularly the case if you intend to visit the island outwith the main holiday season, or for an extended or sabbatical stay - in which case we hope that you will choose one of our own outstanding properties. In high summer every property bears consideration, but at any other time of year there will be very little difference in cost between one place and another - so there is every incentive to choose the best! We have just three properties of our own, all of which have WiFi Broadband and colour television; all bedlinen and towels are provided.
PHOEBE is a compact and well-appointed lodge at Scalasaig, some 50 metres from the island's hotel and about 400 metres from the shop, post-office, surgery, pier and "The Pantry" restaurant. It is at the inner end of a terrace of four independently-owned two-storey lodges, and it has one bedroom (single and double bed, cotton linen, down-and-feather duvets and pillows). The bathroom has an electric shower over full-sized bath, and the downstairs double-aspect sitting-room is equipped with comfortable chairs, flatscreen satellite TV, DVD-player etc. There is a good hot water system and the kitchen area has an electric four-ring hob, under-counter oven, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. The property is stylish, light and airy, has hardwood floor downstairs and is carpeted upstairs. A shared laundry provides washer, dryer and a chest freezer. A sheltered garden has whirligig dryer and basic barbecue facility. All bedlinen and towels are provided and electricity is charged at cost. This property may be rented on a very flexible basis from 2 nights upwards. Phoebe is graded as a 3-star property.
LONGFIELD HOUSE is a comfortable and quite substantial modern house in extensive garden ground at Port Mór, very close to the sea and enjoying magnificent sunsets. It has an en suite double bedroom downstairs and a double and twin bedroom plus bathroom upstairs. This property is particularly suitable if there are two couples or if there are three generations. It is, of course fully-equipped; it is suitable for a longer holiday and is normally let for a minimum of one week. It is ideally suited for out-of-season occupation and sabbatical use. Longfield is graded as a 4-star property.
CILL A' RUBHA is at Uragaig, on an ancient marine platform about 100 ft above current sea level and with extensive views embracing a sweep from Kiloran Bay to the Ross of Mull. It has a double and a twin room upstairs, a study and open-plan living area with coal-effect gas stove plus wrap-around elevated decking on the main floor, and utility room and "spare" bedroom on the lowest floor. It is, of course fully-equipped; it is suitable for a longer holiday and is normally let for a minimum of one week. It is ideally suited for out-of-season occupation and sabbatical use. Cill a' Rubha is graded as a 4-star property.

Special note: All of our properties have specific elements of design, furnishing and equipment intended for comfortable adult occupation; children are, of course, welcome but their parents need to be confident as to their behaviour and maturity, both to avoid danger to themselves and damage to the property. Similar considerations apply to pets. These are wonderful properties either for a holiday or longer stay - some of our guests use them for lengthy sabbatical leave and we offer special tariffs to suit that demand.
